Kamloops vs. Kelowna?

Post by Hermes »

Only three advantages (?) in Kamloops for me...

1. Closer proximity to a forest monastery

2. Train to metropolitan centers

3. Cheaper rent

I don't know if there are more jobs in Kamloops than Kelowna, and the weather won't be as agreeable. Anyway, Canadian trains (unlike in everywhere I have been in Asia) are not for basic transportation, so it's not going to be anymore more convenient for Vancouver and Calgary. Is there some feature of Thompson that I am missing?

Anyone here gave up on OK for Thompson area, or vice versa? Hunting? Car repair? Better colleges? Trailer parks for bums like me?

The weather is no different.

Better road network.

A decent brewery.

More plaid.

A zoo.

Hermes, tell us more about this forest monastrey. Is it open to the public? :D

Kelowna has more professional services, esp. with healthcare.
Kamloops is two hours closer to Jasper National Park, so they have us there. We're closer to Yoho.
Kelowna has usable lakes. I understand Kamloops lake has few amenities.

Both areas has special services for bums.
I suspect you aren't one.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

A train that leaves 2-3 times a week is hardly what I would consider train service.
Nobody wants to hear your opinion. They just want to hear their own opinion coming out of your mouth.

Sorry, I'm not Hermes, but,

Website.

"Daybreak visits the Birken Forest Monastery"

Jennifer Chrumka paid a visit a while ago.

People can book a visit / retreat.

http://birken.ca/visit

How to Book a Day Visit / Dana Meal:

If you plan to come for a Day Visit and/or Dana Meal Offering, you do not need to submit an online registration form.  We do, however, request that you consult the Birken 2017 Calendar and email us at least three days in advance ([email protected]) with your full name, the date and time of your visit, and the names of any others who will be joining you. We will then notify you if your planned visit conflicts with any scheduled closures or events here at the monastery. If you plan to arrive in the morning for a Day Visit, please make sure to let us know so we can advise the kitchen that you'll be here for the midday meal. For information on how to get to Birken, please see our Getting Here webpage.

Hermes, please?

You should consider living in Kamloops.
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

Thank you. I wasn't aware of that crucial fact.

People presume that because I am well-travelled and have *some* sympathies with the political 'right' that I am wealthy and conservative.

I am neither. Not close. I am more of a Jessie Ventura kind of guy (without the muscles).
