How much has the population grown in the last two years? That's more irresponsible kitty cat owners.

Now that you mention it - I don't remember seeing as many this year.

Quail are one of those animals that really benefit from urban sprawl. The numbers we've seen in town the last decade are way above normal and wouldn't exist in a natural environment where predators make short work of them. Ever notice that when you go for a hike in the mountains you don't see many?

Someone mentioned pheasants. I feel the same way. They used to be everywhere, now they're a rare sight. My grandfather was often sent out by my great-grandmother to "fetch a pheasant for dinner". Even as a 10yo, he'd be able to grab his .22 and bag a pheasant for dinner within an hour or 2.
