Hopefully he has a full recovery, if there is a next time (highly doubtfull) I suggest using safety harness.

Thought a grown man peing outside could be considered indecent exposure. I agree why add to the story later... the first report didn't state he was peeing.
He'll have a story to tell the grand kids one day. Meanwhile he is going to be teased instead of getting sympathy.
Quite the story tho

Because news reporting has become just that low?
Yes why indeed, to make it seem like he deserved to fall somehow? :135:

He should consider himself lucky. Not unusual for rattle snakes to be out sunning themselves along rock faces like that this time of year. Hmmm - two broken legs or - snake bite? There's an old joke in there that ends with "the doctor says you're gonna die".

Umm, I don't pearl clutch nearly as much you're making out. How do you figure I"m pearl clutching anyways?

Oh, I got lots done today, how about you?

Here's another man, fell into the crater in Crater Lake, Oregon. It's a very steep fall, I've been there and have the photos.
Do we ask him how he fell? What he was doing? Did he also try to pee over the rim?

Poor guy, I hope he had appropriate insurance because, unlike here in Canada, this guy may have financially ruined himself.

Walter, one of my fav jokes.
I am surprised someone didn't snap a picture " oh look, someone in a dangerous position - must snap a pic or 5 before I warn them"
Guessing something startled him, lose your footing on rocks down you go.
Last time I peed in the woods was the LAST time I peed in the woods
How the heck can you not have an outhouse but have a pet Fox? Like I knew it wasn't some rabid creature. LOL. Nice 2 hour drive home with the scent of Fox Fear clinging like grim death

Just to be clear, at Palouse Falls, the canyon rims are laid out by nature in such a way that it is possible to use a zoom lens at maximum range, have no way to warn anyone of anything, and still be able to snap pix.

The warnings have come from the State Park rangers who:

Posted a flashing board right at the entrance warning of edge unstableness and of no less than four people dying.
Signs posted every 100 meters warning of unstable edges due to water undercutting.
Signs at the fences warning "do not cross."

The area in question have no fences, it is a rock feature jutting out at the top of the falls, but anyone on the opposite side of the park can see people who have hiked in.

So I ask you, what "warning" at all could have been given from the far side of the canyon walls that the young people would have actually listened to? Screaming above the roar of the Spring fed waterfall would not have reached them on the far side. Sad to think the photographer would have been responsible somehow for someone elses behaviour in this case.

There’s another one about the percentage of drowned fishermen found with their flies undone - but I digress.

No way that thing was big enough to need a harness
