Fly-Zilla Buzzes Okanagan

Postby Treblehook » Aug 21st, 2019, 9:47 am

This story along with a photo appears in Castanet [Central Okanagan] today. The picture of the fly seems to have been taken through a magnifying glass!!! Come on?

Looks like a cup/container to me, not a magnifying glass.

Just a standard close up. I could do similar photos with a fully manual 35mm camera when I was 7 years old.
The cups bottom is usually a little higher than the countertop, which is why it looks a little bigger than average and the toonie is a little out of focus.
Freezing the fly puts it to sleep, giving you some extra time to work on it.

*sticks nose in the air* I happen to like the bug articles. I love bugs.

Ferri,
I am suddenly thinking you probably have 1 or more young boys or grandchildren.
I can almost picture you with them in a park, with magnifying glasses studying insects.
It would be a fun way to spend a day.

No, I don't have boys, but I was a tomboy and both my daughters are too. [icon_lol2.gif] Never, ever a single, "Ewwwww a bug/snake/etc."

I think the bug articles are interesting, there are so many different kinds around here if people just notice. :D

I don't know what it is, but I have never seen a bug stick it's tongue out at anyone before.
So I am wondering what you did to it :200: [icon_lol2.gif]

Ferri wins! Stuphoto, get your mind out of the gutter [icon_lol2.gif]

It’s a Monarch Butterfly caterpillar. It was crawling around on a friend’s picnic table in Maple Ridge. I won’t tell you what my guess was because like Stuphoto, my mind was in the gutter too lol
