Did Jesus visit Glastonbury England?

Is there a god? What is the meaning of life?

Actually, I would like you to answer it. But back on topic. We already know your fable of Jesus is a myth rants. You and Bsuds can start a new "Jesus is a myth" thread. I would love to debate that...

I actually haven't heard too many people say that Jesus was a myth...or a make believe character....even Atheists and Agnostics.
The myth began when Christians turned this Jew, who was just a guy preaching God's word, into the Son of said God.
Sure, he sure could have travelled to spread the gospel...doesn't make him the son of God., a prophet, saviour, miracle worker or anything but a guy spreading the word of God as interpreted by the old testament.

Pretty sure though that he never built a church after he was dead.

The Church in Glastonbury was built during his early travels there with his great Uncle Joseph of Armithea.

You stated that it was built in 37AD.

Overlooking it all is Glastonbury Tor, a fascinating holy hill.

Tradition has it that Jesus visited and Joseph of Arimathaea built a church here, King Arthur and Guinevere were buried here and it was an ancient place of the Goddess. It was home to the medieval saints Patrick, Dunstan, Benedict, David and Bridget.

averagejoe wrote:"St Augustine wrote to the Pope to say he'd discovered a church in Glastonbury built by followers of Jesus. But St Gildas (a 6th-Century British cleric) said it was built by Jesus himself. It's a very very ancient church which went back perhaps to AD37."

You made the claim in the very first post that the church was built (perhaps) back to 37AD.

Let's say Jesus did exist and that his jewish parents didn't mind him taking off with some rich uncle who liked to travel to the cooler climates outside of the roman empire...

and let's pretend there were some jews living in Pagan Briton at that time even though the first written record of Jewish settlement in England dates from 1070...

...what young jewish Jesus and his globetrotting jewish uncle would have built is a jewish place of assembly or as the greeks would have called it, a synagogue. ("Christians" and their "churches" didn't exist until some time later.)

It's true that mystical black stones, magical golden chalices, and supernatural bits of old wood make for fun fantasy though.

Carry on...

At what point in time did Jesus throw off his Jewishness and become a Christian (which is kinda funny) ?

Apparently, his maternal side of the family was quite wealthy - shipping magnates and all. His mother's mother was British.

Never.
Christianity did not exist until well after his death.

Uh...you're the one pushing the information and the article are you not ?

Jesus also visited America...and South American - or Central America - or perhaps Mexico.
Built churches/temples there as well....silly historians think the Mayans built them.

Jesus to different people:

Is God
Is God's son and God at the same time
Is only God's son
Is who we pray to
Is who we get baptized in his name
Taught us a good example of how to live
His name is used disrespectfully by Hollywood and most other people - continually
Was just a good man
Never existed - fiction
Is a good reason to earn $millions for a religion
WHEN WILL WESTERN WAR PIGS WIND THIS UKRAINIAN GENOCIDE DOWN?????????????
