Was Jesus really the sun?

Post by maryjane48 »

The exploration of Christ as a solar figure includes a study of ancient sun worship not only in the Pagan world but also in Israel, as exhibited by the solar nature of Jesus’s purported Father, the Israelite god Yahweh. Demonstrating the copious substantiation for Israelite sun worship, especially as concerns the main Jewish god, in Yahweh and the Sun: Biblical and Archaeological Evidence for Sun Worship in Ancient Israel, Rev. Dr. J. Glen Taylor, a theologian and professor of Old Testament and Biblical Proclamation at Wycliffe College, remarks:

Gautama Buddha was also know as the Sun. It's where halos seem to come from. If you look at the art and iconography of the Silk Road you'll find the origins of the Halo, which is a symbol of the light. Thus it could be a connection to Jesus being the Son of Gautama Buddha (God). Both taught love as the law and compassion and kindness. The light being a representation of kindness and of warmth it could be said it is a metaphor or allegory/myth.

The halo or aureole also found in the orthodox icons could also symbolize the complete opening of the 7th chakra ( center of spiritual energy) at the very top of the head.
This chakra is related to the highest spiritual energy. Its openings allows to be one with the "supreme reality", the Absolute, or whatever name used for this state of being reached by Jesus, Buddha and other revealed persons.

If this was true, we should write Sun wherever Jesus is written. Symbols are used all over the bible we should rewrite it in a new way. Some people have but they are completely ignored. To their own peril.

One could study all religious texts going back to Sumer to the present and they would still be no closed to communion with the divine principle. You have to seek that communion with Source, the All that Is, through discipline, prayer and humility. Sometimes it can be experienced through near death experiences, meditation or a spontaneous event that is not of our making. The Sun is a symbol of light, but it is not the Source of the divine, just as Jesus is another symbol but is not the Source. That Source resides in the center of our being, in each and every living thing. It is not something you can own or possess but only be a part of. It is not so much about seeking the light, but remembering that you are. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, not the other way around. All that is needed is to wake up from the stupor that society has inflicted on you with their false religions and dogma. All religion is false because the journey is an individual one (the narrow road). Religion is a super highway going nowhere.
Trying to get spiritual nourishment from a two thousand year old book is like trying to suck milk from the breast of a woman who has been dead that long.

I hope Kanye doesn't see this thread......he will starting calling himself Da Sunn.....actually it would be fitting since he assumes everything revolves around him.

I think I can answer this one.

No, the sun is the sun. It's a star burning hydrogen and helium at an immense rate and has been for about 4.5 billion years.

So, if Jesus was the sun, the sun was there first, and he was impersonating it. Which is a bit sneaky, really.

Well, if you think about it we are all the Sun - light rays coming down to Earth and being absorbed by plants into photosynthesis then eaten by animals then by us humans. Thus we are all made of that cosmic matter and energy found in the universe. :D

What Fluffy is alluding to is that we are all made of of matter that was created in suns (and by their explosions). We are all made of star stuff in a very material way.

I happen to think that it is cool that for me to be here, a star had to die.
