Anyone wanna talk about who this guy was. Why he baptized Jesus. How that must be difficult for the church leaders to deal with.

Doesnt it seem odd that someone would baptise the living son of god

There are a few esoteric paintings by DaVinci and others that allude to this oddity. I will try and find a few.

Here is why i think so


If Jesus was the Messiah. The son of God.
Who gave John the baptist power to baptise Jesus.

In church isnt a baptism done to bring someone into a church.
By being baptized by John the baptist would that suggest Jesus was part of Johns flock ?

The picture im looking for is of the Virgin Marry holding a baby John the baptist. While Jesus also a baby is kinda just looking on. Said to be blessing John the baptist.

Sorry i must digress i was doing some reading last night about some of this stuff so there are a bunch of jumbled thoughts in my head.

I was more trying to get otger peoples thoughts on the guy.


It appears he has been nearly scrubbed from history.
That is part of why i feel the church is afraid of him possibly.

For what its worth. I am of no religious affiliation. Just interested.

All I know (remember) is that John was a prophet who foretold the coming of Jesus. According to scripture (as far as I can remember) he felt undeserving to baptize Jesus. However, Jesus had him baptize him anyway. It is just part of the story - although I am sure there are practising Christians here on these threads who could elucidate us further.

In most Christian churches baptism is not to bring someone into a church. Baptism is a public expression of one's faith and decision to follow Christ.

John only baptised adults . Who came by choice to him. He was known far and wide. Lived during Jesus time apparently .

Not all churches believe in infant baptism. Many believe it is a decision that individuals make for themselves.

Jesus' mother, Mary, and John's mother, Elizabeth, were relatives (Luke 1:36). The old King James Version of the Bible says they were cousins, but the word "cousin" used to mean any relative in the 17th century when the KJV was written. They may have been cousins, or because of the age difference, Elizabeth might have been Mary's aunt.
