Viewing court documents

Viewing court documents

Postby netfreak » Jan 11th, 2010, 12:40 am

So there's a few court documents I'd like to view but don't feel like paying $6 for each of them through the online site. I know where the court house is, so am I able to just walk in and head for the archive? Can I print copies of this stuff?

No, you can't go surfing through the 'archive'. Yes, you pay for photocopies. You will also pay $7 or $8 to have the clerk find the file for you. Of course, the Kelowna courthouse only holds files on Kelowna cases.
You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not use reason to arrive at.

Yeah it would have been Kelowna cases. Argh, might as well just do it online.

Depends what documents you are referring to. If it is a case that has been reported you might find what you want in the library or court library. You will have to research yourself and pay for the photocopier but it can be done.

Well I already found the documents online before they started charging to even do the search. I could have recorded the file numbers I guess. Now the site charges just to do the search, and probably again if you actually want to view the file. Seems a little silly.

What site are you referring to?
Also what "documents" are you after?

type kelowna in the box that says full text. This will draw up cases that have the word Kelowna in it so will give more than just cases in Kelowna... you could also try case number if known.. or in the text box type exact (kelowna registry)

Tried both those links, it gave me the cases I had previously found using the e-services or whatever court service. They were supreme court cases regarding a local business. What I'm really after are a couple civil cases (related to the other cases) which came up on the BC court search but required payment to view. They don't seem to come up on these other pages.

Would love to give you a hand but without names, dates and players no can do...
sorry

You can go to the court registry and see what you can find.
The BC link you gave did not work for me by the way
