Nobody (decent) hopes for tragedy to befall others, but at some point, we have to face the sometimes cruel consequences of our own stupid actions.... and this was stupidity of a seldom seen magnitude. I mean, REALLY!

As for the romantic notion that Mr. C. nobley sacrificed his life for Mrs. C's. survival by wandering off, well, somebody's just been watching too much Walt Disney.

That said, I actually DO hope that when Mr. C's remains are finally discovered, it will at least be established that he died peacefully. Given the date and all soothesaying aside, it's all we can realistically hope for.

NB; My signature line has been up for a while now. Unfortunately, in this case, sadly, it is ironically prophetic. I therefore feel it would appropriate to apologize to Mrs. C and all others who loved Mr. C. May you find solice in knowing that his sins have now all been forgiven.

Your post, and your signature line are insensitive and disgusting. Nobody decent calls others stupid.

I wouldnt worry OnTheRoad,,, theres the type who are so perfect they dont know how to be normal and make a mistake in their lives. Oh wait,,, I see a mistake now,,,

Seems it might just be what he did,,,, My bet is he thought maybe he could find help and save them both and if worst came to worst leaving her there would give her a better chance of being found rather then taking her with him knowing chances of survival were slimmer And,,, he would have been right.

One can mouth off all they want and blow their "I'm so Perfect, I'd never do that" cover for all to see and turn out looking like a fool. I was seriously hoping for this moment, to see that this "notion" was correct.

I'm sure it was a difficult decision for him to leave the vehicle and his wife. However, there was only minimal food (and no water) in their vehicle ... so he probably thought that looking for help gave them the best chance of survival. A truly tragic (and sad) chain of events. I'm just glad that Mr. C's remains have been found ... which should bring some closure for his family.

Thoughts are with the family and friends of Al and Rita. Very sad day for all I am sure even though it was pretty much certain that Al had passed on without a body there is still so many unanswered questions. RIP

I am thankfull and sad that the body of Mr. Chretien was found. I'm sure that the family always had a bit of hope of finding him alive. Glad that the family now can have some closure.
I'm almost sure that they will now have a family and close friends funeral.
I'm thankfull that this is a Christian family. So I can say " May Bod bless YOU ALL. May God's peace surround you with HIS love.

It's nice to hear he's been found. However, after reading the article today regarding the news conference they held, I was disappointed. These are supposed to be loving church going folks, and there was NOT ONE mention of thanks to the hunters who found his body.
Thank you to those men who found him. I'm sure it wasn't pleasant.

What article is this? Castanet? You shouldn't be so quick to assume and I bet these hunters will hear from Rita personally.

"Good Morning. I speak this morning on behalf of Rita and family. I am Henry, Albert’s older brother. On September the twenty third of this year Rita with four others, returned from a very successful nine day tour. The purpose of the tour was to thank those who searched for her and Albert, those who prayed for them, and those who encouraged us over the last year and a bit. Rita shared much of her story with the people we met, answering many questions and having many questions answered by searchers. Many of the searchers expressed the need to find Albert as they felt their missions were incomplete and the also needed closure. We take this opportunity to once again thank the searchers, prayers and encouragers.

We give special thanks to the RCMP, the Elko County Sheriff's Office and all of the agencies who took this search seriously and cooperated effectively.

We are thankful to you the media, for doing your job. Without the publicity you gave us there would have been fewer searches, especially by the volunteers. The family also wanted a tangible closure. September 29 at about four o’clock, one week after our trip, Albert’s remains were found by hunters. Our understanding is, Albert’s remains were found resting under a tree. He had placed his back pack where it could be seen. He laid down under the protection of the tree for a much needed rest and died peacefully in his sleep. After leaving the van, he walked approximately ten miles and climbed twenty three hundred feet in altitude in adverse conditions. His clothed skeleton was intact, his blanket and other possessions were with him. We conclude that he was not attacked before or after his death by mountain lions or other large predators. This brings us comfort. We had long concluded that Albert was in heaven already. We now have more insight into his last day here. We now have comfort and closure to this chapter in our lives. We say Praise the lord Jesus.
Albert wanted to be buried in Penticton. We will honor his desire as soon as possible.

This family is not used to a lot attention. Most of us prefer privacy over limelight. I would like to thank you, the media, again for doing your job. After this interview we hope to go back to our private lifestyle, sharing about what God has done when appropriate, and being better people because of what Albert has taught us.

Read it on Global News: Global BC | Wife of man whose remains found in Nevada grateful for his efforts to get help."

Sheeesh! What a nit picker at a time like this,,, doncha think they have a lot on their minds? How do ya know they didnt do that already or have a plan at another time? At any rate its about thanks he is found,,, not who's names need to be there today. My bet is the hunters dont care, they happened to spot him and did what anyone should.

I applaud her for giving a statement at all at a time like this,,, she sure didnt have to. May they all get some rest now and take care of each other,,, thats what its all about now.

The wife said she already had closure.
This is just a bonus that they found him so they can lay him to rest, and know that he wasn't ripped apart by wild animals.

I'm sure it wasn't pleasant for you to read that letter above from Rita Cretien?
That's what assumptions do. They make ... never mind.
