The fact that some horrible monster murdered such a gorgeous girl just drives me up the wall. I can't imagine how traumatized the town of Armstrong must be right now.

Letter threatens violence on women
by Contributed - Story: 67129
Nov 9, 2011 / 10:58 pm

The RCMP are asking the public to remain vigilant as the investigation into the death of 18 year old Taylor Van Diest on October 31st in Armstrong, B.C. continues.

While the investigation remains active and on-going, with a large number of personnel dedicated to this priority investigation, developments today have enforced the need to re-issue a public request for extra vigilance.

“On Wednesday, November 9th, the Armstrong RCMP Detachment received a letter from an individual who claims to be responsible for Taylor's death and suggests possible further violence against women. At this point in time we will not speculate whether the letter is authentic, though we are working to determine who may have sent it. Our primary concern remains the safety of the public. We would hope that the person or persons responsible share our concern,” stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.

As such, the RCMP is taking the appropriate precautionary step of advising the public of the threatening nature of the letter. We are asking that the general public remain vigilant and continue to take extra personal safety precautions in our communities, particularly in the Central and North Okanagan.

We recommend traveling in a group; or asking parents or friends for a ride. Travel areas of the community that have good visibility. Let family or friends know where you are going and when you expect to arrive. If you have a cell phone carry it. Report any suspicious activity right away.

Given today's development, there is also the possibility that a member of the public may also know more about the letter or it's author. So we are once again asking that anyone with information to please come forward and speak with police. Call the RCMP or if you wish to remain anonymous contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

What a pathetic piece of crap I hope he gets caught quickly and if this was a hoax I hope that the person responsible is charged to the full extent of the law.

Its to bad they couldn't release what all was in that letter. I see there now asking people in the central okanagan to be vigilant as well. You women be very careful out there. We have this, plus a convicted rapist from calgary with a high risk to re offend is being released in kelowna today as well.

Why do the police give us advance notice that they are going to release something tommorrow at 3pm? Is this like watching ET?Oh, and coming up soon,,, . Why don't they just make an announcement when they have something to say?

RCMP have identified a suspect in the Halloween murder of Armstrong teen Taylor Van Diest.

RCMP have identified a suspect in the Halloween night murder of Taylor Van Diest.
Police made the announcement during a press conference Wednesday afternoon in the Vernon City Council Chambers.

The unidentified man is also wanted for an April 12, 2005 sexual assault in Kelowna.

At the time of the sexual assault six years ago, the man was described as being Caucasian, 19 to 20 years of age (25 to 26 now), with a darker skin tone, brown eyes and short dark hair.

He stood 5' 8" to 5' 10", had a stocky build, had large distinct sideburns and thick eyebrows.

Anyone who has information on the suspect or any other information pertaining to the murder of Taylor Van Diest is asked to call the dedicated tip line, 1-888-688-4264.

I'd like to know how they make the parallel between a sexual assault in 2005 with this case. More information would be nice, because the man description is in the like of many people. :purefury:

Van Diest's body was discovered near railway tracks in Armstrong at 8:45 on Halloween night.

Police say she left her home at about 5:50 p.m.

It is believed she walked north on Pleasant Valley Road for about 10 minutes to the railroad tracks.

The last contact she had with friends or family was a text message at 6 p.m.

She was dressed up as a zombie.

My question is how is someone identified if they are unidentified; and then say he is someone who was responsible for an unsolved case from years ago... if I missed something in the translation please forgive my ignorance in advance.

Oh and one more thing, who cares that she was dressed as a zombie?!

how could this guy still be unidentified after a sexual assault 6 years ago? Why hasn't he already been arrested and charged for the first assault? What's the good of a police sketch from 6 years ago?

DNA match, but they don't know whose DNA it is.
