Where to find good rentals
Well, like the title suggests, what are some good resources for finding homes for rent? Trying to find something geared more towards lake country. Been a long time since I looked, and browsing the castanet rentals it seems people have gone mad with their rental prices -- $1250 for a unit with 'shared' laundry what the hell??? $1450 "plus utilities" for a dumpy main floor??
Do people actually rent these places?
Anyways - just wondering what some good resources might be out there. Like I said it's been a while since i've needed to look so just trying to find some good places to start.

The local papers you can try as well. There is home finders but there is a fee with that and I do not know how good they are. Good luck. :sunshine:

I'd go to a good property management company, and ask them what they have currently available. Describe what you're looking for, I'm sure they'll find something.

El Capitano awesome is correct. Most of the real estate companies have property management units also. I believe coldwell, remax, etc.

Start expanding beyond Castanet and the newspapers. Kijiji, craigslist, rentbc. There are lots of sites out there that have rental sections and/or just cater to renting. Hit up google.

Thanks guys - some good ideas! Hadn't considered approaching a property management company, but now that you bring it up I most definitely will!
I think I tried that homefinder thing several years ago - it was pretty much a waste of $60 (not sure how much they charge now, but it probably isn't worth it)
