We used to donate regularly to that charity until we were once told that food and clothing were not needed and that only cash was needed from us. Many more worthy groups were found for our donations.

Went to a garage sale at the Friendly Peoples and the woman (who I had not seen before) said that she had "Bought the business"
and was having the garage sale to clean up things. All items "by donation"
"Bought the business????"

Re: West Kelowna food bank stripped of tax-exempt status
There is no reason for the second Food Bank on the Westside. The Westside Community Foodbank is very well run society with a good board of Directors. Lenetta Perry is the recently appointed Executive Director. Lenetta has been second in charge at the Kelowna Food Bank for many years. She is well known in the community and has a passion for helping to feed people. The Westside Community Foodbank has over 50 volunteers and helps everyone who qualifies, not just single people. It has regular operating hours, and it's records are open to all members of the Society. I don't understand why anyone would support a FoodBank that is being run as a 'business'. It is also important to note that the Westside Community FoodBank is a member of Foodbank's Canada and they do NOT support telephone solicitation.
