I would be happier if any one knew what a sharrow was.spell check doesn't even know.If bikes and cars are to share the road a program should be developed to educate drivers about sharrows .The speed limit is too high for bikes and cars to safely mingle.I think it would be a great new Euro like experience for cyclists if we survive it.
Peace be with you.

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Re: Kelowna new downtown
Finally got a good look at those street lights. My first thought was: "They look like clothespins!". Second thought: "And how much did we pay for those?". Third thought: "How much light will they cast in the middle of the night?"
I did like the little medal "sculptures" by the crosswalk at Bernard and Bertram. Do they have a purpose other than as art?
Will be interesting to see what other "interesting" things the city has planned for Bernard.
Sorry for so many quotation marks...got a "little carried away" with them. <eg>

OMG. Couldn't they have gotten something just a little less ugly and obtrusive for that kind of money?

Seriously, eh?
Somebody was wanting to make an "artistic statement", I guess.
They look like they are falling over.

I agree they don't seem to be worth the money, but I'm still hoping they'll look better on a sunny day with some greenery around them.

Winter here is wet, dreary and not much looks good, so maybe take another look in spring when all the scenery brightens up around here.

I think that the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on those "diagonal flower planters" with the cheapo light show inside would have been much better spent in fixing up potholed roads or providing subsidized housing for the families that live in sheds.
