City to put bus stop in front of my house?

The city has in it's plans to put a bus stop infront of my and my neighbours houses, essentially blocking 2 driveways and getting rid of our on street parking, my question is can this be stopped and how does it effect my property value?

Opinions please.

I'd be doing everything I can to try and stop it - apart from letter writing, I wouldn't know how though.

Thanks Fancy, I'm still weighing whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, my property is surrounded on 3 sides by commercial at a distance of less than 200 ft. and I know the only buyers for this piece of land will be devlopers.

I suppose you could look at it a different way - if you go to sell, a bus stop in front of a commercial business would be a great asset for the business. I guess you'll be having a chat with the neighbour as it would probably benefit you both to be on the same page. Good luck on making your decision.

Not so sweet when you have 3 vehicles in the family and they may just close your driveway and your on street parking.

If I'm reading your post right, you are the only residence surrounded by three commercial properties?

I'd say don't worry about it, your property was deemed commercial a long time ago and will be of the same value when you get tired of seeing the BUS.

Good luck!!

It's not so great for noise levels.

Ok ..Maybe not so sweet for you. But since I gave up my car ( a 1980 volvo wagon with a small block 350 ) and started taking the "looser cruiser" , I got LOTS more money ...

I can only imagine how much 3 vehilces cost to insure , maintain and fuel.I love having a bus stop out side my front door.

Take the bus for a month and realize the savings. You'll get used to the "noise"..

I dare you.

If you have a legal driveway I don't think they can close it for a Bus stop.

I don't agree with some of the comments. I won't take a bus - can't take a chance of not making appointments. I've had multiple vehicles in my driveway and parked on the street. Wasn't counting on them but it happens.

Not an option for us, we're not some clerk in an office or bank teller, we use our vehicles for our work.
I'm happy your getting benifits from the green agenda that's being forced down everybody's throats.
Believe you me, my carbon footprint is no bigger than yours even with 3 vehicles in the family, especially when you take into account how much fuel these 1/4 full buses use.
