Wow, some of you people are , I'm at a loss for words.........nothing wrong with the school kids getting out and going to that hockey game.........as was stated before, they had to have parental consent.......so if you don't like it, don't let them go.
Again, what was stated before, a lot of these kids probably never have the opportunity to go to these games, NOT all families can afford that extra curricular activity.........GOOD ON THE WARRIORS AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT..........

I remeber when MBSS started doing their hockey course for highschool credits. I think its a joke,

I think it's also a joke school wastes time on hockey.

I think its highly unfair the school only focus's on hockey and football.
i raced motocross, You think I get any credits for my sports? Especially when I learned a lot more then you would from a hockey team,

It's the hockey culture that has such a grip on Canadian society. Hockey is a business. This just part of it. Hockey businesses live on the dreams of parents, who want the best for their children. Every night from Sept - June we are bombarded with hockey on tv. From advertising in so many commercials with hockey themes, to many teams, hockey pools, hockeyvilles ect.....It leads to burnout of the sport. Believe me, I've been around hockey for over 40 years. Having been involved with many players in the NHL in their early years of development.

P.S. I'm totally in full support of the Warriors hockey club. BCHL is the best amateur hockey league in the world placing education of their players first and foremost.

So, you're offering to pay are you? Very generous of you.

What about the Okanagan Sun or Okanagan Challenge?? You'd be okay with kids missing school to see them play just not the Warriors?

Again, WHY are you whining endlessly about this on Castanet?? Call SD23 and *bleep* voice your concerns to them about it!!

Last week my daughter went on a fieldtrip during school (educational time) to a pumpkin patch where she had hot cocoa, picked a pumpkin and rode on a tractor. Hmmmm......I paid towards the bus fee (PAC paid the rest so ALL parents contributed I guess..lol) and I paid for her pumpkin. 50-60 kids each getting a pumpkin at about $2.00/each ,the place they went made a ton off them DURING school time so great promotion for them.

Are you against this too? i mean halloween is not educational either right.
They ran around and had fun though and she came home and talked non stop about the fun she had so money well spent and a memory for her to cherish. Same as the Warrior Game.....memories were made and thats priceless!!!!

Just a sample of what's available in the schools so why not promote physical education at a young age? Give children the chance at participating in a school sport by actually watching a game or two?

I know that for some of us, school consisted of the three R's and the strap, and there was a World War going on, with no time or money for fun things. Times have changed.

Events like halloween parties, attending musical performances, or movie days are nothing new. They break the monotony of schoolwork, and serve as a reward for the efforts put in the rest of the year. You may not think it appropriate for your kids or grandkids, but I think it's just fine for mine.

Take a look at what's offered - watching a hockey game seems reasonable considering the academy there.

I may be wrong Fancy but I believe it was elementary kids that went to the game.........hockey academy has been part of RSS for quite a few years now......but I suppose that is "wrong" too...........at least they are out getting exercise......
