Anyone else just see what looked like a lear jet or similar type plane pass over Peachland and then circle over the lake?
Quite cool as he came in pretty low over Ponderosa mtn.

Very likely Greg Norman's private plane having a look at yet another overbuilt and likely unaffordable golf course and housing development.

Was most likely Nav Canada's CL600 checking out some of YLW's navigational beacons/approaches ...

... was doing the same thing over Kal Lake the day before.

We've been testing MLAT, actually.

Thanks for the insight :) Any idea how often the system gets tested? Also, would you happen to know if the CL600 calibrates ILS systems as well?

MLAT is only currently being tested to certify a coverage extension for YLW tower. The system has only been online since mid 2012. Not sure yet if that system will require maintenance flight checks at all or if it can be done from the ground.

We retired the CL60s two years ago and now (as you posted) Two CRJ2s do all of NavCanada's flight checks. ILS included.

Edit: apparently we have a DH8C that I thought had been retired. I guess not.
