agreed, with the taxpayer once again paying out for mismanagement and a rogue cop gone bad.

I agree with the mismanagement. The RCMP have big problems with the inexperience on their force and having to hire and train too many new members at one time.

As far as "rogue cop" "gone bad".

More like immature, inexperienced, cop unable to deal with adrenaline doing what comes natural.

Buddy didn't do himself any credit with his comments after the guilty plea. Signs of either a bad attitude or head injury, or both.

Buddy needs to button his lip a bit. Mouthing off won't win him many supporters and it just makes him look bad.

I agree.

He's a bit of a twit, who if it weren't for poor choices, wouldn't have had a brain injury in the first place.

I've just never felt that his character, be it good or bad, had any bearing on the conduct of someone, on whom the public bestows a level of trust, and expects better judgment from.

If this clown keeps his job with the force I hope its in the furthest place north in Canada like Inuvit and see how easy it is to kick the people he's suppose to serve with snowshoes on.

As funny as that picture is I would find it unfair if he was sent north if he did this as totally wrong as it has looked to be.
A nasty cop in a small area up north can be a huge problem that goes on and on and might take forever to be discovered while people suffer from the attitude never fixed.
I have heard stories of people up there being abused and their cases never properly dealt with. I dont know the truth to iwhat I heard but wouldnt it be aweful,,,
Once deemed unable there is just nowhere to do that same job anymore

When someone defend someone

And more or less tells the other people That they're not intelligent enough to understand what happened Because you have to be a highly trained expert to understand it

What opinion would you like? Mine on his guilty plea? My opinion is that if he felt he wanted to plea guilty...then he should have. Its his right to do so and he took that option. Once again I feel the "system" worked and now he will be sentenced.

We said what we said, its done now, we know we werent as far off as some thought but whats the point in dwelling on it now, the specialists agreed with us many times on many thoughts and we got to see that. I have no interest in saying "told ya so" its over now.

I agree with others who answered this question. The RCMP will be named as well I would think.
Seems there might have been issues earlier and as I have said a few times, a good cop says I need help, I am stressed. His bosses should also consider his needs to continue to be a good cop after an incident. So IF they knew about the bridge incident or any others before this kick then some blame might fall on them for not helping him with some issues. You can let it go till the big one or nip it, I dont think they did what they coulda when the first sign presented itself.

Having plead guilty to Aggravated Assault, Mantler will now have a conviction for an indictable offence, which should give the RCMP the grounds to dismiss his sorry *bleep*. Additionally, the court might well order a firearms prohibition ... it wouldn't be the first time a prohibition accompanied other penalties for serious assualt convictions. The inability to carry a firearm would then make him unfit for duty in the police force. Mantler cannot blame his current predicament on anyone but himself. That's the bottom line, and the disgrace he has brought on himself, his Detachment and the RCMP ought to be reason enough to get rid of him.

I read today that he is pleading guilty. I strongly believe that the training at "Depot" for recruits should be revamped to tone down the ""Members"" sense of power and "untouchable status". When they arrive in their first posting they are subject to the culture of other members who have gotten away with this stuff and find themselves in a position where in order to fit in with the culture they have to behave in manners such as this.
VCP, Saanich, New West Police, Matsqui Police, Delta Police, and other City Police Detachments are trained at the Justice Institute of B.C. where they get an education that is different. The RCMP is a Federal Police Force and feel that they must maintain a high military standard of following the chain of command, respond to the pressure of the group on their watch, and take personal umbridge to folks who question them, even in a minor sense.
Management in the RCMP are Militaristic, and judge their members based on the old school "I am god" approach to pushing around members of the general public. If you are a guy walking home from the bar between 5 and 6:30, or are indigent minding your own business, you are in a highly statistical group, and the members of your detachment who havent met any standards regarding the opening of files (stats) before they get off shift, they will be on you like a wart hog, on a corn cob.
