Many in a sad effort to protect Mantler and the reputation of the RCMP

Are doing exactly what the defense lawyers are doing ,trying to make this another Tavares trial.

It's a very common tactic used by lawyers who are defending RCMP officers .

I actually believe Mantler will get off on this, even though he is a unprofessional panicky little punk who slipped through the recruitment and training of the RCMP.

I'm no cop either, but from what I read of the female officers testimony, it would appear that as some of us suspected long ago, that the arrest wasn't really done according to protocol from the get go.

I thought from the start, that if there was any concern about Tavares and weapons, then it would have made far more sense to use a PA system to get him to exit the truck and lie down on the road. Now I read that apparently that is the protocol.

This sort of gives the impression that Mantler was playing cowboy, and protocol be damned.

The thing is Piece, back up was only seconds away,,, it only takes a second to get shot if they were aware there could be guns. I think he mighta jumped the gun, sorry for the pun but ya, a few seconds and this could have been controlled by many maybe?

Mentally ill person involved in a domestic depute, returns to his former place of employment, angry, with a gun, fires multiple rounds. When pulled over by police, still angry, gun is visible.

Buddy is lucky to be alive.

I sense an acquittal.

Why? Do they shoot angry people who have guns? I thought we tossed em in jail if they shot at anyone, tis not the case here tho.

Or are you saying that the anger, plus gun = nervous triggar happy cop? I dont think our RCMP will agree with these thoughts

I seemed to recall the ex-wife being on Tavares' side.
Anyone remember this.

Yup, I also do remember the owner of one of the golf courses saying he was allowed to come and shoot on a part time basis.

Good lord ... you watch too much tv.
Cst Robyn Boffy said that she did a quick check for any weapons, but saw none.

Before I do what the nice policeman tells me to do I want to be sure it IS a policeman - not some guy who wants my vehicle for a getaway car. Mind you, I'd probably let him have my rusty bucket of bolts anyway without a fight.

Unmarked cars have flashing lights as well Gfreddy ...

Hmmm...Where is she now that the chips are down then??? Maybe her appearance immediately after the incident was for show.

But within minutes there were cops walking around with some that they found somewhere...Just goes to show that each person involved will have a different perception of what was going on.

Oh and Hassel99...You forgot the part about how immediately after the shots were fired no one could find Trudi who was scheduled to be working at Tavares' said former place of employment....Or have we got to that part yet?

I dunno, just from reading about his testimony I'd kinda like to give him a kick in the chops myself! Oh relax, I'm kidding. Well sorta kidding.

It's easy to put a couple of lights behind the grill of a Crown Vic.

In fact, I remember a few years ago cops in the US warned people to be wary of fake cops bearing Vics.
