3 Arrested for Shooting in Hill!

"Police have three people in custody after they apparently were caught shooting firearms in the hills above the Mission.

Cst. Kris Clark says the three were apparently discharging firearms south of the Gillard Forest Service Road.

He says unconfirmed reports indicate police confiscated two firearms, a rifle and a handgun.

Witnesses reported hearing rapid fire shots coming from the forest, they alerted the RCMP, who sent a few squad cars and a helicopter to investigate.

More details are expected to be released Wednesday morning."

Say what? Now the only reason I could see for them being arrested would be, 1, they didn't have any PAL. 2, Because of the Handgun, as handguns can only be used in a range, now if these were not the reasons... Why would they have been arrested? I know a lot of people and they all go shooting in the woods/hills, but they all got their PAL, and no handguns, and all done saftly, shooting into a hill, with no roads but behind them. and most of the shooting areas I have been to, are all used by hunters, and target shooters, and are all cleaned up after we are done, shooting, (shells picked up, targets cleaned up, etc).

The Handgun was a No-No must be at a range with that.
The rifles are fine as long as your 10 Feet from the road and out of city limits.

Arrested for going out into the bush to shoot a few rounds. That's pretty pathetic.

3 cars and a helicopter to investigate shots fired in wilderness. Surprised they didn't send their tank and swat teams.

Yes, of course. Hey, I love guns just any other guy, but shooting a handgun(s) so close to the city is somewhat juvenile.

From what I read Castanet says three men were "in custody". This could mean arrested or detained as with both you are technically in the police officer's custody. I am not familiar with all of the details but if there was a hand gun then someone is in a little trouble over that thing being used anywhere but a shooting range.
If long guns were seized there are a number of reasons for that...without knowing all of the details its impossible to determine why.
