Yup and to have a hand gun registered you also have to be member of a range.[/quote]

At the time of purchase you need to have a range membership but it can expire and you can still have the pistol . You can transport it and just pay drop in fees at any range in BC or Yukon

I was summarizing. My partner has an RPAL and I am going for my own, I understand the rules.

The dad getting charged? Right.

Careless storage? It's more than likely the dad and his son stored their weapons in the same safe/lockup, thus the access to it.

I've had a PAL which is expired. Now what's a RPAL or is that a typo.

Sounds like the son had his restricted but if he didnt and they shared a locker and the son had access to the hangun without one then yes the dad could be charged 100 percent, have seen it happen and actually go to court. You are responsible for securing your firearms from others easily accessing them.

Whoa kids ...I'm just speculating that the "kid took his old mans gun with out permission "..

He could be a heinous gangsta with nefarious intent...Maybe just getting used to his smuggled gat ( rod, heater , peice or bit%h ) before he made his hit...

I dunno...
