Well kibbs, those bands are dead and gone. I grew up on Zep and probably still can remember every word of every song. But, sitting through a 10 minute guitar and bow solo from Jimmy Page ala Dazed and Confused would put me in a coma-like sleep in a flash. Never did like Bonn Scotts histrionics all that much. I grew out of those bands a long time ago along with my landlubber jeans and my puka shells . Anywho....different strokes for different folks.

wasn't here too bad.just tired of the prices and crowds of the bigger venues they should be getting acts for the younger people,so they don't have to drive to Vancouver ,they should get i havn't a clue i'm too old to know.maybe gaga?

There are a couple of factors at play here.

One, I continually hear rumblings that Prospera Place's management is difficult to deal with, with respect to booking events there. This may have pushed some touring acts to use Penticton or Kamloops instead of Kelowna.

Two, touring as an industry is down everywhere. A lot of major acts are concentrating on large cities where they have a better assurance of drawing well. If the profit margin overall is lower, it can make sense to make fewer stops by cutting out the smaller markets.

Events such as Center of Gravity and Keloha make a nice alternative (not to mention more fun to attend) for the younger set, and have proven to be successful so far.
