I have seen the info on this group before while searching for information for scooter clubs. Their website doesn't seem to be very up to date.
If you or anyone else is looking for a Vespa, there are two for sale in the Castanet classifieds!

My Dad figures he is going to have the fastest Whizzer around, and he says a guy in the Kootneys is also claiming the same! LOL Here is a picture of the one he is looking at buying:

That is a very cool scooter. There used to be a very active scooter club here (Twist and Crawl) but sadly, it became part of the Vespa Club of Canada and they basically ruined it. There are still a few very serious scooter riders around town. If you get out and start riding that little beauty, they will find you.

Re: Vintage/Non-Vintage Scooter Riders
That Whizzer rocks.
I've got a '29 CCM/ Massey Harris Silver Ribbon I've been keeping to toy with.
I bought one of those little bike engine kits and have been torn on whether or not to do the conversion.
I'd sell the bike and start with a fresh cruiser, but nobody wants to pay anything for old bikes, so I'm leaning toward a sacrificial lamb rather than selling it for the pittance people pay.
Supposedly original tires, although I'm not convinced as the rims have been replaced. Doesn't stand to reason to me to replace the rims and not put on new tires.
The tires are definitely from the right era though, so maybe...
Pedals are original, but very worn.
I love the trussed front forks, spring saddle and the seat post that can be configured for a "gentleman" stance or laid back for a velodrome racer. The handlebars can also be inverted for racing as shown in this vintage race pic.
Below is my 29 silver ribbon.

No thanks Kibbs.
I'd want a fair penny for the silver ribbon and with the money I'd be looking at buying something more along the lines of:

Re: Vintage/Non-Vintage Scooter Riders
My bikes won Fastest Whizzer at least twice, a buddy won the last two years..so its time to get another Whizzer going to reclaim the title. We have been flogging away building bikes to race at okeefe this year. Graham the early frames usually have to be widened if you run a belt drive..plenty of sacrificial frames around.
If you guys build a homebrewed one you can race them at the ranch..

The kit I bought uses a chain drive.
Additional sprocket is mounted to hub on opposing side to regular gear set.

I've installed one of these for a member I don't think they are of the same quality as the whizzer '
I'm still unsure as to what is legal without insurance .the whizzers seem too big.

Thanks! Do you own a scooter? I have seen info on the Twist and Crawl, I love the name! I hope to find them riding around, going to shows and maybe through this forum or the bcclassicmotorcycleclub.com.
A day like today has me itching to ride!

Re: Vintage/Non-Vintage Scooter Riders
Not really. I have a derelict Yamaha that needs lots of work. Scooters aren't in the budget at the moment. Used to have an old Vespa and a new Vespa. Maintaining scooters gets very expensive after awhile.
