It would be great to see a paved walkway along the lake side for locals to walk/ roller blade, bike, push strollers, electric scooters for the elderly or for disabled persons etc. a few picnic tables here , a specific area for a boat launch with parking?. I realize this may not be possible for many reasons. if there is a plan to re-pave the road and reduce the speed...simply pave the road towards the hill side an additional 4 feet and utilize the recovered 4 feet along the lake side for what is suggested above and paint lines on the road accourdingly with no effect to the lake. It will be nice for locals and visitors as a secondary road to gain access to this area of the lake without worring about the current traffic situation. A reasonable speed limit will help with past accidents. TO many bikinis to watch, drive and text at 100K simutainously. this may become a great biking, joggin, socailizing, walking loop around the lake once things slow down around that part of the lake. Moving the highway is going make this area an assest to Lake Country in the long run no matter what happens.
The concept above would only add to the many reasons we live in lake Country and may draw people from Vernon and Kelowna out for daily ventures and utilize local services while they are in our area.

fantastic idea
would be nice if it was an adoptable idea, but I would suspect that kind of thinking would be engineered right off the table.

At my age never such at thing :discodance: Personally, repave with huge speed bumps and slow it down for us and the tourists. 50 or 60K is not excessive. Chance to slow down and not have anymore accidents on that stretch and let people enjoy what we take for granted. I know alot of people on that stretch, maybe they should be asked, but I highly doubt that will happen.

With the hill to the west this area would be in shade early, except on the south end.I've heard complaints saying we do not have enough boat launching areas. So maybe boat launching at half way point(they always use alot of parking). The waters edge is a bit rough so we will need to bring in sand from Jamaica. You realize City Hall will read these posts and make a point of not doing every thing we suggest for Pellwamay Parkway.

i suspect this road is going to become OK center west on steriods as far as public usage is concerned . If you want a sunny morning walk..head out in the morning..if you prefer a cooler walk or bike ride the afternoon will be perfect for shade. I Beleive its going to get this type of usage at the end of the day anyway... :runforlife:

...but at least your hat still shines in the sun and so long as you don't bite it with a filling, it won't cause you distress.

Funding may be available from the federal goverment for improvements such as discussed in this forum. Lake Country has recently accessed funds from this program for infrastructure improvements.. ...it appears that this stretch of the ROAD/lake could be a fit for this type of funding. MAYBE ... some imigination, communication and the will?
