Sure cutter7, "let the rapist of wife beater or drug pusher get away" ... Your comments make me think that there is very little reality in your life.

Accordingly the front Page of the Courier on Saturday, there is more officers under investigation than ever.
And they are cracking down on it.
Not saying they were all criminal charges, but general. Rulebreaking and misbehaviour..
I'd like to help You OUT,

Two cops accused of wrongdoing instead of one cop translates into "100% increase in police wrongdoing". That's media (including Courier) talk. "Cracking down" in media talk means being investigated as usual.

They were talking about a nation wide problem.. Not the Couriers perception of some local incidents.

I am not sure which is worse..cop bashing..or pretending any wrongdoing is a very isolated occurrence..
The article was quite interesting.

Um no. 104 RCMP cases.

19,281 sworn RCMP members in Canada. 104 cases, so .005% bad apples. While 0 would be perfection, what is a reasonable number given that we are dealing with human beings and the innate human ability to do bad/stupid things? Not justifying any of these cases, but perspective is also needed.

To partmanpartfish ...

And 111 police officers have given their lives in the line of duty over the years in British Columbia alone. But I don't imagine you find that in the least interesting or desirable since it makes the police look rather dedicated to protecting society.

I agree. But that's not to say a problem doesn't exist and it's not growing. And remember, the 104 is simply the number of cases that came under scrutiny last year.

To Partmanpartfish ...

Your chances of finding 100% perfection in the RCMP or any other police force(or any other human profession or occupation for that matter) is about the same as you having lived a perfect life up until now. I am sure that those who know you could tell a few stories about similar conduct by yourself.

Is that not being a bit hypocritical regarding expectations? I do not mean that as an insult. Just a refresher photo of reality.

^^

A relatively small number of men commit rape. That doesn't mean we should pretend the problem doesn't exist and not try to do something about it.

Who said anything about it not existing and not doing anything about it?

However, if you're a man, do you want to be considered a rapist even though you know that 99.995% of your fellow males are not?

Donald you bring up the deaths, many people work in far more dangerous occupations. We accept the risks and we know it going in. So do they. We never expected nor got special consideration when we lost people on the job..

No donald, not at all.. My point is if the chase is going to put innocent lives at risk ( the death was the cherryville woman) stop the chase.. you can catch the criminals later.

your wanting to put innocent citizens at risk to catch a criminal for what? running a road block? makes me wonder whats wrong with you.

Thats right 50, in 2005 45 loggers died on the job in canada,, the average was 22 per year before that, canadian fishermen have an average death rate of 8 per year.

Its pretty irritating for police supporters to want us to give more respect to one of their fallen workers than we do to anyone else.
