Rutland Flea Market Moving
I visited the Rutland Flea ("FLEE") market this morning and was shocked to see it was being shut out of it's current location.
As I walked around there were notices on the tables and the vendors were all talking about it. One gentleman, retired and in his 70's talked about the social aspect being one of the most important things he would miss.
I hope they can find a suitable location, it is an import event for everyone, a great place to see friends, grab breakfast and enjoy an outing that does not cost an arm and a leg.
I have to wonder if the sign was written tongue in cheek as the vendors are now being forced to Flee.

Rutland has a flea market? Must not advertise much.

My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

These links may explain part of the situation.
The first vote was turned down - so they will try again Monday night at the Annual meeting.
If it passes, there will be a road through the parking lot and the park itself will become City of Kelowna property,
for a paltry sum (to upgrade the hall). Wonder what the park land itsef is appraised for?
Reminds me of the recent lease of a good portion of Cedar Creek park to the paddle boarders, closed off to the public.

The flea market is advertised in lots of places. They have a giant sign outside the Rutland Centennial park lots of times. It is on Castanet events every week. It has been there for years. You must be new in town? Welcome!
"Rutland Flea Market - The Central Okanagan LARGEST FLEA-MARKET – Every Sunday from 8 am till 1 pm at the Rutland Centennial Hall & Park 180 Rutland Road, Kelowna, B.C. Too Many “treasures” to List. With 6 acres + over 300 tables we have room for more Vendors. Table Rentals $12. "
If you like flea markets here is some more infos and the source of the above quote:

Re: Rutland Flea Market Moving
I've asked the fellow who runs the Rutland Flea Market a couple of times if this is the last year for the market. He says definitely not, that is a rumour circulating amongst the vendors
The vote regarding giving Centennial Park (including the road access) to the city for $800,000 is tonight at the AGM.
Rutland Centennial Park Society AGM
Oct 20th
Rutland Centennial Hall (180 Rutland Rd N)
Doors open at 4:30 pm, AGM starts at 6:30
(membership has to paid up by 6:00 pm to be able to vote)
Because it is an AGM they only need 66.6% in favour to proceed with selling the land to the city.

Is the flea market still going? I see an ad on kijiji saying they were going for the 2015 season but not sure if it is actually happening...
Any details?

Re: Rutland Flea Market Moving
Value Village? That would be a pretty silly for them to complain about the flea market...I heard it closed because the city of kelowna owns the land out there now, I would like to go out tomorrow but I don`t know if anyone else has been there to check it out this year.
I do not understand why this ad would be posted online if its not operating

I would have thought it was the other way round. VV beats the RFM hands down for prices and quality goods, friendly staff and presentation.

Hi there Grandan.
Just out of curriosity, have you had issues with the RFM? I am trying to re claim it for the Park and see if a revival of up to 300 vendors at one point. We are seeking artisans and agricultural vendors as well as some food truck vendors. Big changes going on ( in due time) we are trying to hear what people's thoughts are and where we need to change. So I ask without malice you shoot off those negative things and lets begin with PRESENTATION!!!!
What would you like to see done with this?
Thanks a bunch Traci
