You could probably surf the waves on the lake right now. Unbelievably windy.

I just went through Peachland and a guy was suiting up to go surfing.

Another breezy one today. Maybe some rain, too.

It's totally calm right now (I was just outside 5 minutes ago), but it could get windy later. The western sections of the interior had 91 km/h wind earlier in the week.

We live in different locations. It's blowing pretty good here on the westside.

It's pretty breezy and brisk up here in The Rich. We had blowing light snow flurries this morning but not much to speak of.
Waiting for BIGGER winds and the ensuing power outages that will no doubt follow.

The wind is howling here again, picked up a 71 km gust. Doesn't sound like it's very windy in kelowna yet (airport only says 11 km) but it's forecasted to be a very blustery day.

Heavy winds are causing issues throughout the Kelowna area knocking down trees and knocking out power.

A large tree has fallen in The Mission, blocking Lakeshore Road in the 5200 block near Renwick Court,

Trees are currently leaning on several power lines and power has been cut off to a large chunk of that area.

FortisBC crews are on site and working to ensure the scene is safe so they can clear the tree and restore power to 168 customers currently in the dark.

Fortis says they are working to restore power as soon as possible, but they do not currently have an estimated restore time.

RCMP on the scene tell Castanet clearing the road is a priority as they want to ensure emergency vehicles can get to the area if needed.

Castanet reporter Nicholas Johansen says winds are blowing rapidly in the area and crews are concerned more trees may fall.

There is a separate report of a tree down on power lines up near the end of June Springs Road and a further report of trees down across Cardinal Creek Road and Greystoke Road in Joe Rich.

Winds gusts of up to 60 km/h are forecast for the area today.
