Richard...aka NITRO...passed away a few years ago, I went to the service..
I met him his first day of school..
He used to fish in our yard in Five Bridges..
my Persian cat always followed him when he fished, sometime the cat would get the fish before he could get the hook out..
My cat loved Richard, he as far as I knew took no fish home. Gave them all to CAT..
CAT would watch him closely, tail twitching..

When we moved from there, Onestop 67.. from this forum moved in there.
Him and his Monkey.

We had a huge backyard, long properties, both sides.
On the one side there was often horses in there or a pony. We got to ride the pony a lot.
Great place to grow up..
I'd like to help You OUT,
Which way did You come in??

I recall being locked down in class on one of Nitro's tours through Dr. Knox (1974ish).

He walked calmly down the hall and out the door with 2 gym teachers with baseball bats following not far behind...

Can’t ever recall there being a Chi Chi’s. No Mexi at all that I can remember. Many many Chinese, though.

This can't be the same Nitro that used to swing by OKM in the early 90s to visit Mr Hollier...the wood/steel shop instructor?

Still miss Ken's downtown.
Hadn't thought of Chi Chi for years but a friend mentioned it the other day.
I know the Spaghetti Factory doing way better this time around. Friend's lil girl won't go there because the Spaghetti is " old"

I kinda remember Nitro when we first moved here in ’68 but never got the impression that he was really dangerous. More like unconventional. Maybe I was naive. I worked as an usher at the Paramount for a while in my teens. Still remember swimming at the aquatic all day and taking the theatre tickets from the kids I played with at night. I think there were 2 Chinese restaurants downtown just down from the Paramount. One was the Seven Seas but I can’t recall the other one’s name. <Sigh> What I wouldn't give to have a few of those summers back.

Was there also a Chinese Restaurant called ‘Golden Pheasant’?
Seems to me we called it ‘Ruptured Duck!’
Sorta across (one block up) from Ye Olde Pizza Joint.

The Golden Pheasant Cafe opened in 1929 at Bernard and Ellis and closed in 1969 (owned by Mar Jok). There are two articles in a local newspaper if you google the name.

Crossing the bridge I actually thought of the Grass Shack.
