Brace for a hard winter
https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-s ... htm#211990
One of Canada’s high-profile weather forecasters is warning Canadians across the country to brace for a whole lot of snow this winter.
Chris Scott, The Weather Network's chief meteorologist, says the message from his forecast team is "'buckle up' because it looks like a stormy winter."

Mmmm, they are usually wrong so I will prepare for a nice, warm winter
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Re: Nice weather
Nice weather out there. No snow all the way back from the coast (though I took the Fraser Canyon because the Coq. was closed from snow).

Re: Nice weather
(lightly off topic)
I haven't driven the Fraser Canyon route for two decades. It would add 4h to my trip but is it fully widened now? They where working on it in the 90's but there where (are) a couplety few mountains.
Pulling a fully loaded RV to Vancouver Island in January and am thinking Crows Nest if the Coq is ugly....

It hasn't changed much since the Coq was built. No, it does not add 4 hours. It takes less than 4 hours from Hope to Kamloops via the the Fraser Canyon versus 2 hours via the Coq. Actually, it took me 3 hours last week via the Canyon, so it was only an extra hour.

Re: Nice weather
(yes it does add those hours to a ferry from my location. 4hr extra for Fraser, 2hr extra for Crows Nest. 4hr total on the coq.)
The hill going down to the snow tunnel on the coq has scared me just in heavy rain ;-) Loaded, even 8 wheel brakes aren`t going to do *bleep* once the ice forms.... I was just hoping the Fraser canyon was properly two-wayed by now. I should get out more.

Re: Nice weather
Well I took the Canyon from West Vancouver to Vernon on Sunday in the dark and rain, and it took by 6.5 hours total, and that's including the extra time associated with taking highway 7 from Maple Ridge (Golden Ears bridge) to Hope.

Absolute record shattering temperatures yesterday. 19C in Abbotsford, which is 5C above the old record!
Add in the deluge of rain and melting snow, and you get mudslides.

I just was about the same thing. The wind is coming in from the South and it is blowing the hell out of my garage doors. The exhaust vent flappers are rattling like crazy.
Environment Canada sent out a warning this morning, stating that it was to start about 14:00, I thought it was a false alarm until now.

Just got in side in time, pelting rain, howling wind buffeting me from car to house.
