Highest windspeed so far this year in Kelowna is 65km/h.

For Vernon it's 50km/h.
For Summerland it's 74km/h.
For Penticton it's 78km/h.
For Osoyoos it's 56km/h.
For Princeton it's 56km/h.
For Kamloops it's 80km/h.
For Trail/Warfield it's 141km/h.

Highest in the province: Kindakun Rocks Lighthouse = 178km/h
Lowest: Callaghan Valley near Whistler = maximum wind gust so far this year of only 39km/h.

I agree with the glitch, Penticton Airport peak wind gust for that day was 50km, so there is a good chance there was some good gusts in the area, but there is nothing on the Kelowna A hourly weather that would indicate wind speeds of the magnitude of 200km plus.

And the weather reporting is automated without human intervention at Kelowna A, so it is possible for the equipment to report erroneous information until it is fixed.

Edit: Found NOTAMs during July 2015 which indicate that the Auto Weather Observing Station was not working properly during this time frame, thus probably a glitch.

Ya, Fort Nelson had a wind gust of 228km/h on September 3rd, which is obviously an error since the other wind station at the airport only recorded 35km/h.

Number of times each location has recorded the highest daily maximum wind gust in BC from January 1st to September 30th, 2017. Note that I've greyed out all the light house stations, which means that Lytton is the most likely inhabited place to record the highest wind gusts on a given day in BC.

Solander Island = 65

Sartine Island = 34
Kindakun Rocks = 23
HoweSound - Pam Rocks = 19

Lucy Island = 10
Rose Spit = 7

Fort St. John = 4
Herbert Island = 4
Bonilla Island = 3

Dease Lake = 3
Revelstoke = 3
Dawson Creek = 2
Hope = 2
Saturna Island = 2
Sheringham Point = 2
Victoria (Gonzales Hill) = 2
Williams Lake = 2
Agassiz = 1
Ballenas Island = 1
Clinton = 1
Cumshewa = 1
Fort Nelson = 1
Golden = 1
Kamloops = 1
Nelson = 1
Penticton = 1
Puntzi = 1
Terrace = 1
Vancouver (YVR) = 1
Warfield = 1

There was a nice show of the Northern Lights again last night. Saw it at around 1:30AM.

I don't. I'm sure we need the moisture. Plus, it isn't the dreaded "s" word . . .

Snowed where I was - love the snow. Blue skies - trees covered in snow - tracks of all sorts of animals - but today everything is melting as it did get pretty mild.

What a fantastic day.

Yellow leaves everywhere, blue sky, somewhat warm. Went for a bike ride in this paradise.

Have to agree - after all yellow leaves kinda remind me of yellow snow. :130:
