also isn't there anything better to do then get all riled up on rocks? maybe kick down a tent because the foot print is horrendous

silliness.

Obviously rocks on the ground support rock dwellers best. Piles are not likely good shelter.
Putting them back in their original location is absolute silliness, but if that's what makes you feel good about your post then keep on the silly!

But, as I've said before, I think we need an appreciation for those that are passionate about "the little things" in their own backyard just as much as we need an appreciation for those who are passionate about our backwoods. If nobody speaks out, nothing good ever comes of it all.

What may seem trivial and unimportant to you, may mean a whole lot more to someone in their closing days, months, years. Not one of us has insight to make that judgement on behalf of others we know nothing of. Respect and consideration will open your eyes and mind to a world of differing views. It's not difficult, it's just not well practiced.

True story: last year the squirrels broke into my cabin. The little schmucks took my salt and pepper shakers, bar of soap, 3 candles, cheese grater, and my discover magazine and made a pile. I call it pile, but the squirrel called it art. I was *bleep* off that they came into my home and got creative

Looking at rocks and having your eyes pick up the photons is the only reason that rocks "appear".

Rocks that are not being viewed are not visible ... Schrodinger's Cat (again).

I think that the reason that they got away with it was because they were invisible because no one was looking at them.

Schrodinger's Squirrels or Packrat ?

they're up to something. was there a recipe for a bomb in the Discover magazine? it sounds like they are going to grate the soap and candles, add salt and pepper...and knock over rock piles!!!

anyway, i think the rock stacking is pretty. but if i were to do it i would take a picture and then knock it over. just because I think I'm clever doesn't mean everyone will.

*starts grating soap and candles...*

but seriously, everyone has a camera now. i don't see why they can't take a picture and undo what they did. problem solved. personally i want to leave no trace. and that would include something like that.

Ya but I had to gargle and spit.

As for rock stacking, there are signs in some parks asking for no one to do it. Next time I see one, I'll take a photo and post it.

You can now join the squirrels in being banned from the Cabin.

(Squirrels and Rats are now both banned lol)

The easy solution is to create some sort of bad omen or superstition around the rocks.

Something like... if you view one and don't dismantle it, you will die at some time in your life.

[Charlie Brown picks up a rock from the beach, and throws it into the water]
Linus: Nice going, Charlie Brown. It took that rock 4,000 years to get to shore, and now you've thrown it back.
Charlie Brown: Everything I do makes me feel guilty.
