I've had way less cars accidentally try to run into me while on my bike with louder than normal exaust than when it had so called quiet exaust. It's aperent you don't ride or you would be aware that being heard is a good thing when most people can't see you

ya I call bs but If you wish to keep beating that dead horse fly right at it as far as I'm concerned nothing sounds dumber than loud pipes save lives its a crock and yes I do ride

Most people that complain dont ride...
There is a difference between louder than stock and totally obnoxious. And a big difference is how the rider uses the throttle. And yes my pipes have saved my life so it's no joke to me...

All of my riding buds hate the loud bikes and we complain as much and probably more than non riders. We ride defensively and that seems to work just fine. I can't imagine needing to ride a very loud bike. If I need to get someone's attention I have a horn. Considering that loud bikes have the majority of their noise out behind them it doesn't make sense to me to let everyone behind me get *bleep*.
