And people with smart cars don't see the need for v8 vehicles. It's all about personal comfort and personal preference. I'm glad you and your friends don't see the need. There are alot that do. To bash others for your opinion is just not the way to go about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think in the minds of many, all these loud bikes serve to validate is that "cool biker" image?
... too bad its at the expence of so many others.

Examples like these bring back memories of the "class clown" in high school; running around like fools acting out becuase to them, this created the image of somthing that would draw attention to themselves - "cool".

best way to stay alive is not to ride in peoples blind spots which soooo many seem to do and pay attention to whats happening way ahead of you

yeah, if you believe that you're only staying alive when riding a bike because it has a loud muffler (which I promise you, your neighbors/hood hate you for) then maybe riding a bike is just not for you...

drive defensively, stay out of the blind spots, don't weave in and out of traffic (cause you can) or pass on the shoulder and wear proper clothing...can't believe how many people I see wearing shorts and sandals when riding a bike...guess your skin isn't that important ??

Are you saying that riding well and making considerate driving choices saves lives? If so, I'd have to agree. Loud pipes, on the other hand, perhaps simply announce the presence of the opposite kind of rider.

One can't help but notice that the obnoxiously loud bikes are from one particular North American manufacturer and that 99% of the import bike riders keep the stock exhaust system.

That is blatantly untrue. The import race bike (crotch rocket) are responsible for probably close to 1/2 the obnoxious bikes out there... but it's nice to see your hate shine thru for that particular brand of north american made bike...

Whoa there - just looking out for my family and neighbours, one of which suffers from PTSD and dementia brought on from WWII. The last thing he needs to hear is someone firing up and throttling a mortocycle - that they have purposely modified their exhaust system to be louder
