In my fantasy, he took the kitten away in the end to make sure it didn't starve. And yes, I'm sure chicken and kitten reunited later, like when kitty is old enough to bat back.
Here I thought there was nothing lower than a snakes belly in a rut in a ditch. I was wrong.
