Aqua marine valet towers
Wow just seen some news about the plans . Kelowna is blowing up . Some call it progress . I guess it is about time . Too bad it has to be so ugly a project . They could have made this so nice . The way it is . There will be 2000 people with parking for dozens
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

Link?
Edit: I found it. Just more congestion in that area and for Upper Mission residents. Adds to the Kelowna snarl ups. But yay, boat storage.

It looks like a lot of buildings stuffed onto a small piece of land . It will be weird parking like all mission group projects

Kelowna is going to be so busy and overcrowded in a few years, as if it's not bad now. What is the lake going to be like with watercraft lol.

Addressing these concerns, a number of changes have been made to the AMV building, including:
The building height has been reduced from six (6) to four (4) stories and will house 200 boats (the same number currently accommodated);
Setbacks between the street and the building have been improved along Cook and Truswell Roads for enhanced landscaping and a more open feel from the adjacent public spaces; and
The addition of architectural features which will 'animate' the building, including a second floor 'clubhouse' addition and a glassed-in 'pop-out', marine-themed display case on Truswell.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

How old is the picture they are using? I assume that it's to make it seem less dense than it currently is down there.

It's dated. That is the old Lakeshore Rd bridge - it is not like that now. Don't do it. Traffic at Truswell will be more of a summer gong show than it already is x10.

Actually - that's a great picture showing the continued accretion of land due to the silt depositing from Mission Creek. I would not be surprised to see the boat launch severly impacted in coming years, not to mention neighboring properties. Doesn't matter how fancy a project gets developed - it won't sway Mother Nature.
Regarding the topic at hand, it looks like this proposal has cleared the first hurdle towards approval:

Development is getting out of control. It's going to get to the point where you won't even see the lake anymore unless you're on a boat or way up on a hill. The proposed Aqua development is too big, and too high if you ask me.

A no vote by city council was never a possibility. The public hearing is just a charade for the inevitable.

Re: Aqua marine valet towers
My main concern isn't the height of these towers. If you ask me, I think 13 - 19 storeys is appropriate for Kelowna with such a high demand. The concern should be traffic, parking and roadways in the area. It seems like council is developing and densifying as much as they can, without upgrading the roads to alleviate increasing congestion...
