I doubt any were broken.
Why do you think there's so many charities out there?
It's a great legal structure.
And the guy who put this together is a long term lawyer.
And this isn't the first one he's done.
Many of you may be familiar with Share.
I wonder, with all the hundreds of estates that have been donated over the years- likely thousands-
Why isn't there ever anything decent, high end or valuable that hits the sales floor... ever.
Just cheap horrid welfare crud.
A discussion with a few of the people who've worked receiving there over the years answered that one for me...

There's lots of directors of charities out there, quite a few in this community, that have become very wealthy from their charities.
A charity with a paid board of directors isn't a bona fide charity imo.
But they legally are.
It's an awesome legal structure for a business.
There's a reason there's so many of them out there.

For those who aren't in the know, a bit of sleuthing will tell you who the originator of Share is.
Yup. That's right.

If I'm not mistaken, in BC a Director of a non profit society or charity cannot be paid. Only expense reimbursement.

Yeah, it's not like people in that neighborhood are strangers to a criminal background.

Well Evensteven, if I am mistaken could you please provide us with an example of a Director of Board of a non profit or Charity in BC that receives renumeration, other than expenses. Just to be clear we are not talking about an Executive Director but a Board Director. Theres a big difference, I hope you know.

Why not build the project in Kettle Valley?
A thousand times this. The fact that Rutland is considered a dumping ground for these types of projects is disgusting.

How is that close to any amenities and services?
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

Mcurdy and rutland road isn't close either.
Except for that macs store on the corner , which in itself isn't much of an amenity or service. It's likely little more than a cigarette and instant coffee dispensary for them.
I'm sure it's a safe bet very few of the occupants will own a car.
T.S. wins.
9 million free dollars, a free property and maximum occupancy, all tax free, courtesy of your tax dollars.
Suckers.

Nope - went by google maps. Thanks. Should have known it was out of date. So no grocery store at all at 33 and Rutland Road?
