Re: Downtown Highrise A Go? Lack of FD Resources?
Well, you could debate all day long about the value of having firefighters on duty ready to respond to fires, medical calls, and other emergencies. The fact is, one of the most successful paramedic programs in North America is the Seattle/King County Medic One system, in which the FDs run the emergency ambulance calls. Seattle has one of the highest rates of cardiac arrest survival in the world, due to an integrated FD, and a high level of community CPR involvement.

Also, the topic of this forum is the increased amount of high-rise and 6 storey wood-frame buildings in Kelowna, and the inability of the FD to provide a recognized (NFPA) minimum response to fires in these buildings.
