^^^ first thing that comes to mind, was this the owners first launch of the boat this season.
If so does this boat have drain plug & after winterizing (last Fall) was that plug replaced.
If not that could be what happened

Not sure how long the boat was in the water but a damaged bellows will also cause a boat to take on water and potentially sink...or a drain plug missing

a leaking hose off the engine will cause this as well ask me how I know this

temp sensor shut mine down but not before it poured about a foot and a half of water in the bilge lol

Could be waves were CLEARLY breaking over the bow of the bow rider for 4 hours straight in PLAIN VIEW of the spouse. And the spouse didn't think important to tell him. It happens. Ask me how I know this.

Mine was in my negligence to not take the keys with me when I left town to
work.
Only to come home and find it had been drunkenly "borrowed" ran into the rocks,
swamped, painstakenly retrieved and placed back into it's spot before my return.
I HAD such good friends...
