Help design downtown Kelowna.
Bulldoze...start again.
J/K. Not.
No I am.
But seriously, they want input into garbage can placement and benches but do NOT suggest Rutland's schools don't need a transition house near them.
I'm going to suggest filling them with input as to what the REAL issues are:
"Residents have until Oct. 8 to provide online feedback on what the elements should look like and where they should be installed."
How about this City Council. Get angle parking back. Get the Leon Ave mess cleaned up. Put the Transition house Freedom's Door closer to Rutland's downtown like the other one is and stop pretending that garbage cans and benches are the only issues Kelowna people can vote on.
OH, and the tourist center? It's in a stupid place.
Oh, and the height of the new hotel? It's too high.
Oh, and the second bridge placement? No one wants it, expand Bennett Bridge.
But garbage cans... THAT we can get behind. Ya, really.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Put it in YOUR neighbourhood. With a bunch of shoot up facilities. And a place where folks can store all their crap outside like a garbage dump met a third world village crossed with WalMart's boneyard for old carts.

Kelowna is so generous!
Solar powered garbage cans in Stuart Park....that salary workers empty
A $200,000 bus shelter at UBCO to protect students from.... not holding an umbrella?
Large screen TV's at city hall....don't forget to bring your popcorn when paying your taxes & parking fines!
What's next?
More embarrassment?
or more benches to house the homeless?
Its all good, right?

More street art at $500k a pop from obscure starving artists from - Ontario or USA.
Yay Kelowna - keeping in touch with all the real people of this community.

Yeah, it looks like crap, and they removed a ton of parking spaces. Don't just stop at new seating areas, start from scratch and do the whole thing over again.

Has it been that long since CoK spent millions to rejuvenate Bernard Avenue. So I guess its the side street turn now.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

But that's not really what the thread is all about MJ
I'm saying the City Council will listen to us about colour schemes about useless things, but not to the people who are going to have to live beside what they don't want and did not sign up for.

Exactly. It doesn't really matter what we think. Our mayor is willing to lose votes and friends over something real important like the Freedom's door project in Rutland.

Oh no they want our input, but not about how the new tourist center is in a stupid location for people who drive or how many people call for a clean up of Leon Ave. Nope, just about colour schemes of benches and such.

The city only just recently redid the Bernard Avenue section of downtown. It makes sense to me to just carry on with that style. I guess someone at City Hall must have way too much time (and budget money) on their hands for this sort of thing. Or, perhaps, this is just their way of trying to make the citizens feel like they can be "involved".

Gee...carry on that "style" downtown that removed more parking and put in light standards that look like some sort of industrial accident? Nice.

With the number of homeless downtown I'd recommend futons instead of benches.
Remember: Humans are 99% chimp.
