Environment Canada says that this snow event is coming up from Washing State.

The weather will become very wintery across the Southern Interior this week.

On Tuesday a deepening Pacific low pressure system will track up and across northern Washington state. This system will combine plentiful moisture with cool northerly winds near the surface. The result will be heavy snow starting tonight and continuing through Wednesday morning for most communities in the southwestern Interior and Kootenays.

Storm total snowfall amounts will range from 15 to 25 cm with the highest amounts falling near the U.S. border.

You should call the border and tell them not to let it cross.

Here is the latest radar image. The red arrow indicates the direction that the weather is is moving in from.

It looks like that cloud broke up just before hitting Kelowna.

They are still saying that the snow is on the way for this morning.
A winter storm warning has been issued for the entire Okanagan, with Environment Canada warning of potentially hazardous winter conditions.

The snowfall is expected to intensify later this morning with accumulations of 20 to 25 centimetres expected in Kelowna, while West Kelowna and Peachland could see 35 cm on the ground by Wednesday morning.

Non-essential travel is not recommended in the valley.

I guess so! And man does that sucker get heavy. [icon_lol2.gif] It's still snowing hard here on the other side of the border. Here's our forecast:

Today Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 33. North wind around 6 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

That could change in the next 5 minutes too. I love looking at the weather, it's always a surprise.

It will be interesting to see how much we get this winter. I have been busy already plowing at some of the higher elevations. So far what has fallen in town hasn't been sticking around long before it melts.

And absolute worst for driving. Coastal type snow, packs down to an ice like surface.
Studded tires or those real soft sticky snow/ice tires help somewhat. Going to be a bunch of "fender benders"....

Drive safely people, good luck today...
