Gas prices in the Central Okanagan have shot up to 139.9 cents per litre, motorists tell Castanet.

Gasbuddy.com reports several stations in town are still at 125.9, however.

Spokesman Dan McTeague says prices are expected to remain high across Western Canada due to a spike on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the shutdown of the Explorer Pipeline, which delivers fuel from the U.S. Gulf Coast to much of the Midwest.

Rack price has gone up by .176 cent a litre since Oct 18.

Oct 18 it was @ .705 cents per/L
Today its @ .881 cents per/L

As I've said before gasoline & oil are traded separately, been that way since late 80s or early 90s.

Winnipeg rack price is .813 (taxes .24 + 5% GST) with pump price at $1.019
