As soon as I read the article I came to the forums to see if someone posted on it.

Three week trip in Bali but you need generous strangers to top off the vacation fund? Lost wages? Boo. Need money for food? Well you’d be eating at home too. Buddy gave you a condo, make you own meals.

When the hell will it stop.

It is unfortunate to be stuck while on vacation. These people were lucky enough to be given some free accommodation while they await a flight out.

So why do they need to be funded ?? No mention of travel insurance ??

I am sick of people using fund-me sites to collect money for setbacks in which they did not prepare themselves for.

Since I really don't like paying for contents insurance every year at my house, will anyone just donate to my go-fund me if my items are stolen or destroyed ??

When I ended up in the hospital this summer with a broken neck friends and colleagues started a go fund me page. I told them to take it down.

You know why?......wait for it......I had insurance! As a business owner I was paying into Worksafe BC. Plus we have savings if we really needed to dip into them. And worst case scenario we have family that would have helped.

It’s called being a responsible adult and looking after yourself. There is no way I would expect strangers to bail me out.

Just because you see a deal on Claire’s Best Bets and there is room on your credit card or line of credit doesn’t mean you can afford to go.

There was a young vacationer on the news and he said, “who is going to pay for this”

I agree, the gofundme for these people is or should be an embarrassment to them. Three week dream vacation and now need help to come home. I guess they will come home when the planes can fly again. Just suck it up buttercups. Really, its disgusting. I bet they ask their mommy and daddy for loans too. Please, may I have a little more sir? Grow up, man up or shut up.

These people arent stranded. They can take trains, buses, and ferries off the island to another country like Singapore or Thailand.

They are not even stranded, they just don’t want to be inconvenienced by a 7 hour train ride.

The go fund me page is embarrassing.
