Nobody said that the boat launch would be private. The existing boat launch beside the Eldorado is public, and needs to be dredged every few years. sell it and stop throwing money at it. Cedar Ave location is much better.

What kind of people have boats? People that have extra money. You know which people don't have boats? Poor people.

Extra money?

People with cars have extra money.
People who go on vacation have extra money.
People who own houses have extra money.
People who eat out have extra money.

Should we all live in hovels, wear rags, and eat gruel?

Your "extra money" concept is nonsense.

Why yes those are all great examples of people with extra money. Your end bit though is a hyperbolic argument to distract from the actual conversation taking place. What we're talking about here is a piece of land earmarked for public use, and some people have requested it be used only for people with boats. No everyone doesn't need to live like a middle ages surf but nobody was proposing that at any point here.
So much of the violent push-back on everything progressive and reformist comes down to: I can see the future, and in this future I am not the centre of the universe and master of all that I survey, therefore this future must be resisted at all costs.
