According to BBB this company has been in business over 35 years and 50k destroys them? Something doesn't add up.

She embezzles 50 grand and only has to pay back 2800. Not bad, and if the 50 grand screws up the guys retirement then he didn't have much chance of one anyway.
I have never tried Yoga but I bent over to pick up my keys once so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it.

I don't see why she steals 50k from the guy and the court doesn't make her pay it back.
Seems pretty lucrative.
I'm gonna tag bsuds for 50 k
Cept I'll give him back 10 k.
That'll be fair for both of us.

50K isn't chump change, but it is nothing to this business owner after 39 years. Yes, I have inside knowledge. That doesn't mean he should have been ripped off by someone he trusted. That's still a crime.

What destroyed his business is technology. His company sold advertising on the plastic phonebook covers you used to get in the mail. No one uses phone books anymore, so no need for his companies services, anymore. And the phone book directories sell their own advertising banners on their sites, so his business didn't have very many options to adapt.

He shouldn't have to take it on the chin for this loser.
Imo the loser should have to pay back double what she stole, or do a ten year stint and pay back 100%

How does she get off on staying home and pay back a few k?

Something is very wrong with the way crooks are sentenced.

And I agree. Problem is, this loser would need 100 years to earn enough to pay it back. I suppose house arrest until you pay it back or pass away would be fitting.

It's not enough.
I sit around the house doing whatever I want to all day and I enjoy it.
And I didn't do anything wrong.
Maybe I shouldn't give bsuds 10 k.
I'll give him 28 hun.
Nah.
3 grand. I kinda like him.

If it takes her 100 years to pay it back, so be it. And there should be no statute on it and bankruptcy shouldn't exempt her from it.
I don't see where there's even the slightest deterrent for the next loser.

She didn't sit around the house...she was at Capal's office using whiteout on old style paper ledgers to cover her tracks. That must be labour intensive. He should have to pay her overtime for that, before she has to repay anything.

Bman, heard you were looking to hire an acct. and overseer to
your accumulated wealth.

I hold an Honorary Degree from Little Sicily Finances and Collections.

You in ????

This gal commits forgery and fraud, garners personal financial gain,
has nothing to show and gets minimal sentence/retribution.

Another one of these news stories that just doesn't add up as presented.

And even a small company, as meager as it may seem, if well run and profitable
is worth a tidy sum if/when the owner decides to liquidate holdings.
$50,000 could well and indeed be a major blow to the none too distant future.

States the Dude is in his 70's after all.

50 K is 50 k
Since when can someone in a position of trust steal fifty thousand dollars, and for the most part, get away with it?

Jesus.

If you scroll up, you'll see my post explaining his business. Nothing to liquidate from the company as it has no assets.

The company/owner is worth a lot of money. I have known him personally for all of those 39 years. My father was his accountant for most of those years. $50K is nothing to Paul.

That doesn't mean getting ripped off for 50K is okay. It is a crime.

But when I read the article and the part about his victim impact statement, I almost peed a little...then I peed a LOT!!! lol

The chance in this case of getting your money back is slim to none because there is nothing this woman has to collect from. Now this is different when the parties that have "extorted" or "stolen" the money HAVE money but have pretty much told you to go :cuss: yourself. Calling the police and hoping the court system helps you get what is yours back usually comes up short if even any success is achieved. In many cases where the owing party has money and assets, all it may take are a couple of phone calls and as little as $500 in cash to get what is owing to you. Professionals in collecting call it "persuasion" and results are usually pretty good.
