Another one near the Predator Ridge turnoff....thankfully doesn't sound like anyone was injured badly in this one.

What's with this particular spot anyway? There are SO MANY accidents right there that there must be another reason (in addition to someone was driving too fast, or distracted driving etc and caused it). If one happens on that highway, that's where it always seems to be - summer or winter.

Anyways, glad everyone seems to be okay!

Not sure about yesterday. In my experience the hiway does not drain well there. I have hit standing water and slush there that nearly put me into the rail.

Its the north bound lane especially.

That is a plausible reason for sure....you'd think someone - not sure who, maybe the police, would notify MOT about all the accidents and they might wonder the same thing and get over there with an engineer to figure it out. The fact is it's a good stretch of road and has incidents every season so it's gotta be the road itself in part. They are usually very bad ones too so it's worth figuring out I think....

High speed section (excessive speed) + a bend + a turnoff = gongshow

I drive that stretch and there's nothing wrong with the road when it's driven to take into account conditions (in this case it was icy). The accident occurred close to the Kekuli Bay Provincial Park which is north of the Predator Ridge turnoff.

Maybe its just local drivers. I drove thru there yesterday. Coming back from Edmonton. Seen more f ups in an hr here than in my whole trip back.

My observation from driving Commonage Road often is that there is more and more build up at Predator Ridge, more people living there year 'round and likely a lot of them commute to work to either North or South, or just to Vernon. I'm thinking they all underestimate the time it takes to get anywhere.

If it was icy it should have been sanded - plowing isn't sufficient.

I want to agree with you about the police (RCMP) notifying authorities about unsafe road characteristics. NOT A CHANCE! I have pointed out several issues to Kelowna Traffic Services officers over the last few years............all very simple and extremely evident. NOT A SINGLE ACTION TAKEN BY ANY OF THEM. They are not educated and have no interest in having to write up a report that does not have a "fine" associated to it or can get them into court at "time and a half". Do not ever put any faith into them taking on such a responsibility. I do not even know if their "accident reconstruction" officers have any kind of education in road design or vehicle dynamics.

Kelowna has nothing to do with the highway. Why not contact the appropriate authority?

Due to that poor drainage, corner banking is totally wrong, heading north is okay but south there is no banking it's almost flat.

I just look at it as how it is hundreds of cars passed through there without having an accident that night.
