Thanks for to "dirtybiker" and "southy" for the votes of confidence and agreement on the current farmers' market location basically being the *bleep*. :)

southy, actually I'd imagined the Penticton farmer's market would be a bit of a nightmare in terms of traffic and that's why I proposed for it to be well off of Bernard Avenue. Perhaps Ellis St or Clement Ave wouldn't be far enough away from downtown? In any event, it does need to move. What about the Mission Recreation Park or nearby Capital News Centre parking lot on a Saturday morning up until lunch time? Or, potentially, across the street at that private school, which would benefit from the monthly rent being paid to utilize their parking lot?

That's interesting that the Penticton merchants haven't seen increased sales but makes total sense.

Cheers,
Doug

The legal designation of neighbourhood pubs was determined much more recently than that and Luigi’s was the first to fit that designation.
Much like when Cottage Wineries were determined to be a certain entity.....I believe Claremont was the first. Grey Monk wasn’t far behind.

Really enjoying this thread! So funny the " no windows"
There was an old hotel back home still had the signage Ladies and Escorts.
But since you know former places what was the name of the restaurant in the Mission that was upstairs across from the Haven at Mission Park? And the name before that one pls.
No one I asks recalls

Nope, the pinsetter was at the bowling alley in the basement at the little mall in Winfield. At the time, the only place on a Sunday to grab a drink.

WalterWhite thought Rutland, I thought Westside, you think Winfield.......at least we are all using our noggins and associating the name with a bowling alley somewhere around here lol!

Ernies place was right behind Carmelles Creperie. At one time Safeway was in the mall next along the highway behind Ernies.
There was also an insurance place in that mall.
When the Mall expanded they were required to build Dilworth, prior to that the main road was Benvoulin.
Ernies Place was moved to Springfield before the building of Dilworth and had direct access off Benvoulin Road.
When Dilworth was built all they got was the one access which did not serve them well. Also the stairs from the mall did not improve the access.

I must disagree - the stairs from the mall really helped my access after a long day in the trenches shopping lol!

Trader Joe's is an American based grocery store.
Poor location, wrong format, bad parking, I don't see that it can succeed in today's market.

Playdium would do well here, and Orchard Park is an ideal place for it. Would be bad news for Scandia though.

Trader Joe's would be interesting. I think their success would depend on what they offer. If they're going to try and compete directly with Safeway/Save On/Superstore, it will go badly. If they offer something that sets them apart, they could do well.
When someone says they pay taxes, you know they're about to be an ******e.

I got Married because I was sick and tired of finishing my own sentences.
That's worked out great for me!
