Re: Will Kelowna need a second downtown?
I don't know about a second downtown but we definitely need a second hospital.
Traffic and parking at the current hospital is crazy and more and more homes are being demolished for more space for the hospital.
I think if a second hospital were to be built it should be in an area like Rutland or maybe Glenmore.
Another idea for the current hospital would be a free shuttle for people visiting patients, it could be booked much like the handi dart bus. This would help ease parking problems and help people who don't have a vehicle or enough money for a regular bus.

The population on the Westside is larger than all of Haida Gwaii, it needs a hospital. Now.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Of course we need another Downtown. The homeless are over crowded in the existing one. Gotta make sure these poor souls have enough elbow room to swing their darts.

Each area already has it's own downtown.
Only annexation brought their smaller cogs into the big wheel.
They still retain their own downtowns though.
Yes, another Hospital should be top dead centre on the next Regional
build list.
Like most things here, 20 years behind.
Enjoy this little diddy...(man, I'm old )

They should build a multi billion dollar series of water canals that will replace many of the downtown streets.
One of the brainwaves that were so qualified to steer the future of our city ran for council on that platform.
I'll open a series of park and boats along the edge of the waterways.

Re: Will Kelowna need a second downtown?
okay, now that the silliness has been dealt with.... I foresee that strip malls will be in the future. "Downtown will be left to lawyers, government offices, courts and the tourists. The nightclubs will continue as they operate at different hours from the professional offices and the tourists will concentrate around walking distances from the beaches, expensive eateries, and their hotels.
The retail stores that will do well are the ones that sell overpriced bikinis and $8 coffees. For us locals, we won't go there.
All the businesses that are "down town" better be prepared to make a year's worth of profit in 4 months. Locals know better and won't support their businesses the other 8 months.
