A deer could probably shake one that size right off and walk away.

Don't know about downtown, but I know around Spall/Bernard by the cemetery they are plentiful.

No empathy is a sad disguise and a reality.
... horrible, inhuman people put traps out. They need to be on leashes!
The sad part is there are strays and ferals because of people who profess to be animal lovers but refuse to keep their cats indoors and have them spayed/neutered. Its a human caused problem and not the fault of the cats that don't deserve to die in horrible suffering. Cats become nuicence often because they are trying to survive due to humans who were supposed to be taking care if them being irresponsible.
If stray or feral cats are the problem there is an organization that will help. There is absolutely no need to set barbaric traps in the city endangering not only animals but humans...children, as well.

Is it legal to set traps for trespassers in the city?

No. Worse case, if it results in injury or death you could land in front of a judge with criminal charges against you

That is a definite NO NO.

Agreed. What kind of person is setting up leg hold traps in the city? How many more have they set?
