I say:
Conditional discharge on the following conditions;
Acquire and maintain employment.
Pay 100% of the damages plus interest at 20%. Damages to ICBC, interest to the church.
Ankle bracelet with very strict curfews.
2000 hours of restorative justice to be served at the church 7 days/week, especially on Sundays and during special events.

At their ages they will be in adult court.

Pretty dumb to do what they did.

I have to agree the heading is lacking in facts and common sense. This wasn't a "derby" but wanton destruction by a couple of hooligan losers.

They will be charged as adults, which means no jobs which require a criminal record check, inadmissable to the U.S, among other things. Nice way to start your adult life, guys. Have fun digging ditches for minimal $ for the rest of your pathetic lives. Losers.

They'll need to be convicted first before they get a record that would place (employment, travel etc.) restrictions on them, unless of course they already have a record (that resulted in those restrictions), which we don't know at this time. Chances are, if they don't have any prior record, they'll get away with a conditional discharge of some kind (plus restitution etc.) and, if they keep their noses clean, may not get a lasting record at all. If they don't get a conditional discharge the likely conviction will be mischief or destruction of property, which will result in a record that could prevent them from obtaining certain employment and make them inadmissible to the US. Those charges could be sealed (pardoned) in the future after the "waiting period" and if they have not been convicted of any further crimes during that time. If they succeed in sealing their records it would lift those restrictions in Canada and they could apply to obtain a waiver to enter the US.

Not condoning their actions, just pointing out that they are probably no going to spend the rest of their (pathetic) lives digging ditches, unless they continue with this type of behavior...
