Proposed development for the old Woolworth's site
Bargain Shop for new comers.
Mission Group.
Huge structure.
Old Kelowna is dead in the water.
City Council will be told to, once again, bend over.
City Council, "how far down?"
Here it goes.

Zoned for 26 stories. I wonder what the final number will be.

Bring it on. That end of Bernard needs a revamp in the worst way. I'm way in favour of someone doing something, instead of nobody doing nothing.
As we drag this town kicking and screaming into the 2000's, yes, Old Kelowna is dead. There's just a few bits of it that haven't heard the news yet.

If WestCorp is getting 33 stories, then Mission Group will need 36, to put some of their penthouses above for lakeviews.

If nobody does nothing, isn't that neutral?

If no one does anything housing in Kelowna is restricted and a generation is pushed out of the ability to own a home, any home. Condo are near unaffordable already for most young people that should be able to buy at 25-30. More developement, especially downtown, is a benefit to this city. Old Kelowna is dead and it will never return. Developing downtown gives the benefit of density, allowing services to meet more needs effectively.
If anyone wants to live in the dream town that never changes Lumby is a beautiful place. Kelowna will never be a sleepy town and right now is the time for downtown to be redeveloped instead of the single or two-story buildings that cover most of it. I

er, do you think all this new development is going to be cheap? That's like saying SOPA is affordable for younger people to buy.
I do agree the downtown here is in a sorry state but I think many ppl come to Kelowna for it's resort small town vibe.

Or round up those who are lined up with their shopping carts and get everyone of them into a facility or home or house or group home or jail or whereever they have to be OTHER than the street.
