Just hope those people reaching out (news item on previous page) are actually phoning the authorities.

No surprise at all. They will have a few more hours of by-pass until they totally block it to transport and A LOT of products will be headed new directions.

How is a transport truck supposed to turn around if they don't detour? They're faced with the option of sitting on the highway for 5 days (maybe, we don't know yet) or taking the detour. Can't really blame them for taking the detour.

There will be a point of no return for some of the truckers. Is there another option?

Unfortunately McCulloch will be getting busier....hope they've graded it and it's not full of holes as it would be this time of year after the melt.

I agree but they need to stop them before they get to that point.

MoTI just stated no oversize loads. If it's 14.65 meters from the kingpin to the back or less, height is 4.15 meters or less, or 2.6m or narrower, it's not oversized.

HWY 33 Washout

Post by KHAW »

I am sorry but the ditch on the uphill side of this washout and collapse has been full of water and overflowing the road for 3 weeks. At one point it froze and re-thawed. Signs were placed warning of this, so acknowledgement has been made. I am no geotech, but maybe the water has made it's way under the road causing the collapse. Do you think the fire last year had anything to do with this? That ditch has overflown in the past as well. Is there even a culvert there to drain this ditch?

They were turning them around, by turning into the west end of Falconrdge Cres, then exiting the east end back onto Hwy 33.
Pretty sure that before noon they were turning trucks off 33 at Rock Creek .

Stop them at the top of the hill where they can safely turn around.

I think they have changed that to "no commercial vehices" allowed over Goudie, not just oversize?

As the ground gets more & more saturated by the rains, plus once the snowpack actually starts to melt mudslides will become much more common along with localize flooding.

so expect the unexpected
